The Business for Scotland Annual Dinner

An important event in the Scottish business calendar, the Business for Scotland Annual Dinner gives guests the opportunity to network over dinner and enjoy speeches in the company of some of Scotland’s leading politicians and business people. Our 2016 keynote speaker was the First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon, and was hosted by comedy and TV presenting talent Hardeep Singh Kohli. As Business for Scotland goes from strength to strength, the First Minister highlighted the importance of Business for Scotland in continuing to make the case for independence.

Details of our 2017 annual dinner will be published and tickets will be available soon.

Business for Scotland EU Debate

Business for Scotland, steered by our membership, campaigned for a Remain vote in the 2015 EU referendum. CEO of Business for Scotland spoke at events across the country, and we held a Q&A session for all to ask us questions on trade deals and how Brexit would impact on Scotland’s exports, the cost of Scotland’s EU membership and EU immigration.

From this our campaign video What Scotland needs to know before voting was made.

The power of the Living Wage and investing in young people

Our Living Wage event aimed to answer questions from employers and provide case studies of evidence on the merits of paying the Living Wage and investing in Scotland’s young people. Guest speakers gave short presentations before  Q&A session for full room participation.

The Vision for Scotland Conference

The inaugural event attracted 120 influential business people, trade unionists, social enterprises and academics to Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh. Eighteen speakers participated from business and academia, the NHS and Scotland’s then First Minister Alex Salmond.

Business for Scotland and The National Columnists

An example of our more detailed political events, Business for Scotland and The National newspaper teamed up in Edinburgh and Glasgow at the beginning of last year to allow audience members to quiz National columnists on issues affecting Scotland. Audience members put their questions to the columnists on a range of issues, such as the then upcoming EU referendum, land reform, the likelihood of another independence referendum and issues facing SMEs.
